Out of Focus, the 2012 major photography exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery presented 38 artists who offer an international perspective on current trends in photography, working with the medium in diverse, innovative and arresting ways.

Focusing on the changes photography is going through in modern times, the catalogue portray the way fashion, documentary, advertising and art, are blurring into one another in unexpected, exciting and not always tension-free ways.

The exhibition brought together artists from the US, UK, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Switzerland, France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Turkey and Benin.

From Mitch Epstein’s American Power series, which explores the ways in which energy has impacted the American landscape, to Ryan McGinley’s Morrissey series and the work of such renowned practitioners as Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin from South Africa; Noemie Goudal from France; JH Engström from Sweden; Jonny Briggs, Mat Collishaw, and John Stezaker from the UK; and David Noonan from Australia, this stunning, lavishly illustrated volume stands as a tribute to the best work being done in photography today.
