Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans are among the most recognizable and celebrated works in the history of art. Warhol began his Campbell’s Soup Can paintings around 1961, and the subject would take various forms in the years to follow. For these works, Warhol not only used ink colours that departed from real colours, but also spray painted the back-grounds and the lower (white) portion of the label in different colours. The result was a collection that was both unexpected and familiar.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is undisputedly one of the most important and well-known artists of the 20th century. His influence goes beyond art and has profoundly inspired both style and lifestyle in our society. The 1960s was an extremely prolific decade for Warhol.
