Beyond Botanical: A Guide to Drawing Plants in Nature

Each book is signed by the author and includes a unique, hand-made drawing. Images are for reference only; the drawing is unique and varies.

Beyond Botanical invites you to let plants around you guide the way you draw. By observing, sensing, and being present with them, something in the way you experience plants begins to change.
Inside this book there are all sorts of activities. Some will take you outside, while others can be enjoyed from the comfort of your home. Through guided activities and prompts by freehand botanical tattoo artist and painter Daniel the Gardener, you’ll find yourself drawing from real encounters, and even plants that might only exist in your imagination.
Dedicated sections offer guidance on perspective, shading, and composition, helping bring your illustrations to life without overcomplicating things.

Description

Daniel the Gardener is a botanical artist from Buenos Aires, now based in London. Trained as a painter, his practice took a new direction when he began tattooing and developed a freehand approach to large-scale botanical work.

Drawing plants directly onto the body changed the way Daniel understood form, movement, and placement. Over time, plants became a way to carry stories of memory, emotion, and place for the people wearing his designs.
