Description
Femmy Otten was born in Amsterdam, 1981 and she lives and works in The Hague. Her work is represented in public and private collections, including the collections and she is represented by Galerie Fons Welters, Amsterdam. Femmy’s practice as an artist takes inspiration from historical traditions of image making and idolatry, both of Dutch or European traditions. Archetypal forms can be identified in her sculptures, paintings and reliefs, yet her works also function as self-portraits reflecting on life, love, motherhood and sexuality.
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants II: A Unique Dialogue Between Past and Present is a collaboration between artist-curator Louise te Poele, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Saatchi Gallery. The V&A has granted access to its historic collection of works by female creators, which has inspired a new body of work by contemporary artists.
